Recent analysis by the by the Honey Authenticity Network, of honey sold in UK supermarkets is the latest in a long line of evidence showing consumers are being sold honey that's bulked out with sugar syrup.

The Honey Authenticity study showed 96% of the 25 tested Supermarket honeys were 'suspicious', while five samples from UK beekeepers were all considered to be genuine.
The poor quality of supermarket honey has been consistently evidenced, across Europe. From 2021 to 2023 the EU tested 320 honeys from 18 countries and found 46% were fraudulent.
Genuine honey from local beekeepers
In tests, local beekeepers reliably produced genuine, unadulterated high quality honey. Your local beekeeper remains the best source of quality honey.
Unfortunately, the poor quality, cheap "honey" sold by supermarkets means most customers have never tasted real honey, and so have no idea how different it tastes to what is available in supermarkets.
Your local beekeeper continues to be the best source of honey.
