Talk at the Weybridge Beekeeping Association

On Monday 15th April, I was invited to give a talk to the Weybridge Beekeepers Association, of which I am a member, on my experience of beekeeping so far.

Giving a presentation to beekeepers, some of whom have been beekeeping for over 50 years, isn't easy. I stuck to explaining some of my experiences so far.

One point that caught the attention of some beekeepers was the idea that Beekeeping can be used as a way of people having more of a stake in the wellbeing of their local natural environment. Similar to how some angling associations have a vested interest in protecting waterways.

Contents of the presentation

  • How it began: My earliest idea of beekeeping.
  • 1st challenges: Getting bees and more.
  • Growth: We’re going to need a bigger apiary!
  • 1st Autumn/Winter: Setting up an out apiary.
  • How to improve?
  • 2nd Spring/Summer.
  • Autumn/Winter 2024.
  • 2025: Building a significant side-line
  • Final thoughts.
